B I S H O P E U S T A C E crusader notes THE PARENT NEWSLETTER OF BISHOP EUSTACE PREPARATORY SCHOOL From the Headmaster Spring is here and I know you are all enjoying the warmer weather! Although I love seeing the flowers bloom and the weather warming up, it reminds me that our Seniors will soon be leaving us. The excitement in the air as the college and university acceptances are celebrated is overshadowed by the fact that they will be gone very soon. I wish them well but I will miss them. On the other hand, I look forward to the Class of 2019 coming in September! With AP exams in full swing, Senior exams coming soon, and final exams in early June, the students are trying to stay focused on the task at hand. I am proud of their resolve to end the year successfully. Mother s Day is a very special celebration of all the mothers with small children as well as those who have nurtured and guided their children through childhood and into adulthood. May God s blessings continue to be upon you and your family as you undertake this very special task of creating the leaders of tomorrow. As the Bishop Eustace Parents Association hold their Transition Dinner on Tuesday, 12 May, I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved with BEPA for all their work over the past year. I look forward to working with the new board in the coming year. We are always looking for new members for BEPA if interested, please contact Mrs. Lantz, President of BEPA, at The annual Spring Concert at the Collingswood Theatre on Wednesday, 13 May will be a very exciting evening, filled with music produced by our talented students and faculty. tournament takes place on 18 May This is always an exciting fun-filled event and I hope to see many of you there! Toward the end of May, our Senior Promenade will be held in the Field House and the much anticipated Senior Prom will be held at The Collingswood Ballroom. What a beautiful sight as our students dress in gowns and tuxedos, looking very elegant! Next come the awards ceremonies, Senior Picnic, and the Class of 2015 farewell. After the Senior Awards Ceremony on 29 May 2015, there will be a Parents Farewell for the Senior parents only (no students). This is a time to toast your friends as your children become alums. The Baccalaureate Mass will be held on Sunday 31 May 2015, and finally Graduation takes place on Tuesday, 2 June 2015 when we celebrate and bid fond farewell to our Seniors. May God bless them and keep them safe as they begin their higher education. As we look forward to summer, my wish for all of you is that you have time to relax and re-charge. Remember that your faith will help you to get through trying times as well as find God in everything you do. Keep Him near to you always and you will find peace. I wish God s blessings on you, your families and especially the Class of Godspeed. Sincerely yours in St. Vincent Pallotti, Brother James W. Beamesderfer, S.A.C. Headmaster Class Representative elections in mid-may will determine the future leaders of our student body. We will all be praying for good weather as our annual Alumni/Parent Scholarship Golf In this Issue: Volume 18, Number 2 April 2015 Campus News and Notes 2 Student Council Corner 4 Parents Association News 5 Office of Student Personnel Services 6 From the Office of the Vice Principal/Registrar 7 From the Office of Student Affairs 11 From the Advancement Office 12 Summer Math Course Application 13 Eustace Advantage 14 1 Campus News and Notes The World Language Department would like to congratulate the new inductees of the National Language Honor Societies. CONSIDER VISITING COLLEGES EARLY It is not too early to begin to visit colleges. Underclassmen may want to schedule a tour to get some perspective on urban vs. rural schools, schools of varying sizes and the issue of distance from home. If you are vacationing in another state or another part of our country take some time to visit a college or two. Call ahead to the admissions office to get the tour schedule and the times for information sessions. College websites usually have easy access to this information. Juniors should be planning visits to their top choices. Parents keep your eyes open for safety and security issues as well as accessibility to classroom buildings and dormitories. Students should ask questions about class availability and general satisfaction with campus life. ATTENTION SENIORS You will receive a packet from Ms. Kovencz in the mail with the College/Scholarship Update form. Please complete this form with current information and return it immediately to Ms. Kovencz in SPS. If you have updates after you have submitted the form please the new information or stop in to speak with Ms. Kovencz in SPS. You must complete your graduation survey, college intended major and update all of your admissions decisions by May 5th. This information is critical to our graduation program. The college that you list in Naviance as the one that you are attending will receive your final transcript. Please make sure that what you are putting into Naviance is accurate. AP TESTING Please see the online School Calendar for dates for AP Testing. Students should report to their testing rooms at 7:45 for morning tests and at 11:45 for afternoon tests. Students may not have cell phones in the testing rooms. When the testing is complete students may leave campus for the day.
