MANUSCRIPT CENTRAL v4.1.2 Release Notes The following are updated features planned for release in Manuscript Central v4.1.2 on Thursday, January 29, The next section of this document provides information about the default configuration values and configuration time required for each of the features. If you have any questions, please contact Tiffany Coker, Director of Product Management at x174. The Manuscript Central v4.1.2 release includes features that will immediately impact Manuscript Central users when the release occurs. You may want to communicate these changes to the users in your organization before the release so that they are prepared for any changes that might affect them. This will include enforcement of UTF-8 in supported web browsers, output of UTF-8 characters in the special character palette (Figure 3) and output of UTF-8 characters in system-generated output XML. Non-UTF-8 data stored in Manuscript Central will also be converted to UTF-8. Because there is a large amount of data to be converted, this conversion process will take place both during and after the release window. During the release window, the following system information will be converted to UTF-8: User IDs and passwords Account-level information including roles, countries, departments, institutions, etc. Keywords, areas of expertise, and other attributes Site templates Site instructions Custom and standard questions Site configuration information 3 /7 After the release window, we will be performing the conversion on article metadata (abstract, cover letter, title, and running head, etc.). We anticipate this conversion will take between 4-6 days to finish. During this time, the site will be updating and you may notice some characters displayed as small boxes in the user interface. After completion of the conversion, these character issues will be resolved.
